Features of the geyser device
To understand whether extraneous sounds are related to malfunctions in the speaker, it is worth taking a closer look at its device. Different models have characteristic features, but the principle of operation of any devices of this type is identical.

Natural draft columns require a chimney of a certain diameter. If it is impossible to install it, turbocharged speakers are installed. They are additionally equipped with fans to remove exhaust gases through a coaxial pipe. The combustion chamber in such devices is closed.
If one of the nodes does not work correctly, protection is triggered, and the column is turned off.
This can happen in the following cases:
- insufficient draft in the chimney;
- there is a weak fire in the burner;
- insufficient water pressure;
- heat exchanger overheating.
Sometimes the column continues to work, but at the same time it makes various sounds, which also indicate problems.

Such a sound is associated with a violation of draft in the chimney. First of all, you need to check if the ventilation duct is working. Bring a lit match to him. If there is a draft, the flame will be drawn into the hole. If there is no reaction, the chimney is clogged and needs to be cleaned.
Whistling
Strong or slight whistling can be heard from different places in the equipment. The reason is a violation of the connection of pipes. First of all, it is necessary to accurately determine the place from which the whistle comes.
The procedure is as follows:
- Shut off the gas pipe and turn on the hot water. If the whistle is still heard, inspect the water supply system. With prolonged use of the column, limescale (scale) forms inside the pipe. Most often, this is the reason for the whistle. The diameter of the pipe decreases, and water passes with difficulty. To fix the problem, flush the heat exchanger with a special solution, folk remedies (citric acid, vinegar with soda), or replace the part.
Whistling can often be caused by scale.
- If, after opening the tap, the whistle stops, this indicates that the problem is in the gas supply pipe. The flame control valve is probably broken. Reduce burning intensity. Turn the knob to one side or the other. If the whistle has decreased, it is necessary to clean the device.
- If the valve adjustment does not work, the gas pipe must be cleaned.
Scale formation in the heat exchanger is a common problem that degrades column performance. To prevent it, you need to put a filter at the cold water inlet, which reduces hardness.

Crackling when burning indicates clogging of the nozzles. They need to be cleaned by removing the box. If the column crackles and does not light up, the problem lies in the performance of the batteries. The batteries are probably dead and need to be replaced.
The situation is more complicated in devices with an electric ignition. There are several reasons for cracking in this case:
- Dead batteries. The piezo ignition clicks, but does not give a claim. To fix the problem, just change the batteries.
- The sensor controller for gas supply is out of order. This can happen due to the oxidation of the metal under the influence of moisture. You need to clean the contacts or replace the sensor.
- Candle deformation. The device may not work due to the displacement of the wick. Set it to the right position and the gas will ignite.
- Retarder ball stuck in ignition mechanism. Remove the part and shake it to return the ball to the correct position.
In turbocharged speaker models, the cause of crackling may be incorrect fan operation:
- The blades are dirty. To clean them, remove the casing of the device and inspect the fan. If necessary, wash the blades, lubricate the moving elements.
- Burnt winding. If the fan remains stationary after the column is ignited, the contacts are most likely oxidized or the winding is broken. Try cleaning your contacts. If this does not help, the fan needs to be replaced.
Clap
Loud pop when turning on the hot water tap, sometimes accompanied by column vibration. This is due to a malfunction of the gas supply system in the working compartment.
It accumulates an excessive amount of combustible mixture, which does not have time to ignite. This creates excess pressure. As soon as the gas ignites, an explosion occurs, accompanied by popping.
In this situation, it is better to immediately turn to specialists, since gas emissions can lead to the destruction of the chimney.
You can try to fix the problem yourself like this:
- Shut off the gas supply and remove the outer part of the dispenser box.
- Clean surfaces of dirt. If soot has accumulated on some parts, clean the nozzles.
- Examine the electrodes. Clean them up or replace them with new ones.
Questions about speaker problems
Clogged exhaust ducts on the heat exchanger. Take it off and rinse the top with a strong jet of water - everything will work.
Membrane problem. It needs to be replaced.
A malfunction indicates a blockage or failure of the ignition group. Maybe cleaning will help. But it will most likely need to be replaced.
To eliminate problems in the operation of a geyser, at least elementary knowledge about its structure and repair skills are required. If your column is under warranty, contact the experts without hesitation. They will eliminate the cause of the malfunction free of charge and repair or replace the necessary parts of the device. You cannot open the column yourself before the expiration of the warranty period.
